Kniven

Kniven is a famous and spectacular peak in Smørstabbtindan in Jotunheimen, easily accessible from Krossbu Turisthytte. A great hike in alpine landscape, with beautiful views of Jotunheimen.

The trip often requires crossing the Leirbrean glacier, and the area offers demanding, alpine conditions where crampons and ice axes are recommended, as well as good downhill skiing opportunities.

Starting point: Krossbu Tourist Cabin

Highest point: 2133 masl

Difficulty: Demanding (glacier - airy and steep peak)

Season: Summer (July–September) / Spring ski trip (April–June)

Hike that requires glacier equipment and knowledge – possibly a guide.

It is recommended to assess the avalanche danger and check the conditions carefully before the trip, as this is an alpine route.
