From Krossbu you have direct access to some of the most spectacular peaks in Jotunheimen – and Veslebjørn is one of them. This impressive peak in Smørstabbtindane gives you an airy and beautiful summit hike, with magnificent views and a real high mountain feeling. The hike requires crossing a glacier, and is suitable for experienced mountaineers or those walking with a guide.

The trip often requires crossing the Leirbrean glacier, and the area offers demanding, alpine conditions where crampons and ice axes are recommended, as well as good downhill skiing opportunities.

Starting point: Krossbu Tourist Cabin

Highest point: 2150 masl

Difficulty: Challenging (glacier)

Season: Summer (July–September) / Spring ski trip (April–June)

Hike that requires glacier equipment and knowledge – possibly a guide.

It is recommended to assess the avalanche danger and check the conditions carefully before the trip, as this is an alpine route.
